Cynthia Elkins was recently profiled in the San Fernando Valley Business Journal. Each year the SFVBJ has a focus on law firms in the San Fernando Valley. Cynthia was interviewed about her involvement as an advisor to the State Bar Executive Committee on Solo and Small Firms.
Cynthia recently settled a wage and hour claim filed with the Santa Barbara office of the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement where the employer improperly classified an employee as an independent contractor, believing that because she had the freedom to set her own schedule, work her own hours, and attend to her own side business that she was not an “employee”. For years the relationship was fine until the “employee” was terminated and she thereafter filed a claim for overtime, missed meal and missed breaks, and unpaid commission earnings.
Cynthia recently was invited to speak before to the residents at the UCLA Graduate Pediatric & Orthodontics Practice Administration Course advising soon to be graduates on Best Practices in managing their dental practice.
